ETFs
/So, now that you're saving money, you need to know where to put it. NOT in a savings account, which is totally useless.
Recommendation: Open an account with Vanguard (which you can do online or over the phone). They were the first to do funds with extremely cheap fees and they're still the leader. Do a search on the founder’s groupies - Bogleheads.
Then start putting your money into ETFs. They are the least expensive. Standard “actively managed” mutual funds with big fees are a waste. “The greatest enemies of the equity investor are expenses and emotions.” - John Bogle.
As Warren Buffet once suggested, put your money in ticker symbol VOO which basically just tracks the market - low-ish risk, solid return. Done! If you want to buy an occasional tech stock, fine, that's easy to do in your Vanguard account too, but at least half should be in low fee ETFs.
